SNAFU Con is an anime convention in Reno, NV, Friday, October 25th through Sunday, October 27th, 2013, inside The Grand Sierra Resort & Casino, 2500 E. Second Street, Reno, NV 89595.
Here are the badge prices for SNAFU Con 2013.
$25 through May 20, 2013$30 through September 21, 2013 $35 through October 27, 2013
Prices may change at any time.
When you arrive at the convention you will have a badge waiting for you with your name on it. Wearing it will allow you to come and go freely for the duration of the convention. Badges must be picked up at the convention. ID is required to pick up your badge. For individuals under 18, school ID is acceptable. Driver's license or permit is preferred.
If you preregister you will have a spiffy designed badge. If you wait too long to register, you will have a simple colored badge with your name hand-written on it.
Preregistration badges will not be mailed to anyone.
When you arrive at the convention, you will go to the registration desk and hand them your ID. The person behind the desk will use your ID to find your badge, mark you as 'picked up' and hand you your badge and ID back.
For groups - only the group leader must furbish their ID. The group leader will be picking up all badges at one time. Only the group leader will be able to pick up the badges.
If you have not registered, you will have to fill out a registration at the registration desk and pay there to receive a badge. This generally takes a lot longer, and is more expensive than preregistering.
You need to provide your legal name on your registration to be able to receive your badge. If your name does not match the legal name on the badge, your badge pickup will be delayed. We may have to hand write a new at-con badge for you if we consider the difference to be major enough. To be clear, Chris instead of Christopher, or Jen instead of Jennifer is not considered major.
Your legal name will be printed on your badge. If you preregister and provide us with a fan name, your fan name will be printed prominently, and your legal name will be printed in significantly smaller text. Generally the design team will print your second name as small as they feel they can while still having it clearly readable upon inspection.
Early registrations (registrations paid for online after preregistration is over) and all registrations paid during con will not have a fan name.
Groups of 5+ receive $5 off per person. Group discounts are nonrefundable discounts. If you end up with a surplus credit, the group discount is not eligible for a refund.
As of 2012, when a user has already paid for themselves, they may no longer join another group. However a paid user may still be a group leader and add new people to their group.
Group discounts do not apply to any registration paid in cash. This includes preregistrations for a future year made at-con during a previous year, and registrations made at-con for the current year.
The group leader will need to provide ID to pick up the group's badges and only the group leader is allowed to pick up the group's badges. Do not join a particular group if you may need to pick up your own badge, or if you think your group leader may flake on you. We would like to encourage prompt and responsible group leaders.
Once you have registered, you have the option of entering a coupon on the payment page. Only one coupon may be entered per group per year. As soon as you have entered a coupon, the coupon section of the payment page will be locked for the duration of the registration year. You can not change a coupon once it has been entered.
Coupons apply to each badge up to the group discount cut off. So, if you have 4 group members and you have a coupon, your coupon discount applies to each badge (coupon discount * 4). However, when you add a fifth person, you now have a group discount. The coupon will only apply once to your entire group total after the group threshold, so now your 5 person group has not only a group discount off of each individual badge, but an additional coupon amount off of the total (group discount * 5 and coupon discount * 1).
We will not refund any coupon amount. If you pay in full and then later find a coupon, the only way to receive that coupon's benefit is to add another service (such as another registration) to your account. Adding a coupon after payment will give you a non-refundable credit good only for this con year. Any unused credits in the system will expire when registration closes.
As of 2013 we will be giving a permanent military discount. At this time a military discount will replace all other possible discount.
Military discounts are $5 and replace all forms of other discounts for the individual. If you have a $3 coupon and a military discount, you only get $5 off, not $8. Similarly, if you have a group of 7 people, and one or more have the military discount, they will not get an additional discount. However, at this time, a person with a military discount will still count for getting a group discount.
So if a group of 4 people add a person with a military discount, everyone is receiving $5 off of their registration. There is do double-discount for military. Military discounts are non-refundable - if you pay full price and we mark you as discounted later, you will not receive any money back. However, like other discounts, you may add another registration or item to your charge to use up the discount. You will not receive money back at-con for it, either.
Military discounts are permanent and persist for every future convention year once it is in the system. This is also the only discount which will apply if you pay at-con instead of in advance. All we need is a copy of your military ID. To receive your discount in 2013, you will upload your ID to the registration system on the profile page. To receive it in 2014+, just bring your ID to registration at some point during the con and we'll mark your profile for it.

All individuals under 13 are required to have a chaperone attend with them, age 18+. Any individuals found wandering freely without a chaperone nearby may be given copious amounts of caffeine and a puppy. Additionally, we may pull the badges of the chaperone and child upon repeated disregard of convention policies.
To comply with COPPA, we are no longer allowing children under 13 to register in the system. Children 12 years of age and under are now admitted for no fee with parent and are no longer tracked in the registration system so they can not receive a preregistration badge. We are keeping anonymous demographics information on all child badges such as birth date and sex.
We can not seem to stress this enough. Bring ID. At 2012 we let a lot of students slide with questionable forms of ID (such as a Facebook page) but as of 2013 we are absolutely requiring a legal ID (such as a driver's license or permit) or student ID. Facebook will not count. You will be sent home. A parent/legal guardian with a valid ID can vouch for their child and will count as ID for an individual under the age of 18 for the purposes of badge pickup.
We do not require ID for Children under 12 as they must have a chaperone present.
As soon as you have paid for your registration, your registration is considered complete. Except for extreme circumstances authorized by the con chair, we will not refund any registration, in full or in part.
Generally we do not transfer badges, but if you ask nicely, the reg team may transfer a payment to another registered badge. Do not attempt to change the user profile to another person. The badge name is locked in. The reg team will have to restore the original information which may add a significant quantity of time to our responses to your requests. And we will always remember your name (you know who you are).
Any free entry prizes for SNAFU Con are given in the form of vouchers with registration info on them, and are signed by at least one of the con chairs (usually two). To claim the prize, you need to bring your voucher to registration for the year it was given to you. Free entries expire as soon as registration closes on the weekend you receive it. So, if during SNAFU 2013, you were given this voucher, you need to turn it in during SNAFU 2013 to receive free entry into SNAFU 2014.
As of the posting of this policy (March 25, 2012), we will not accept any unauthorized prizes. So if someone tells you you're getting free entry into next year's con, make sure you're getting an authorized voucher and take it to registration to claim the prize! =]
